Devastated parents of newlyweds who have died by carbon monoxide poisoning urged his friends to buy gas leaks in his memory to prevent further tragedies.

Katie Haines, 31, who lived in Barkham Road, died Thursday following a leak of carbon monoxide thought from a faulty boiler.

Ms. Haines's husband Richard was found in the bath after returning from work just before 20 o'clock.

Mr. Haines and his parents, Gordon and Jackie, who were also home at the time, have all received medical care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading for carbon monoxide poisoning and were later released.

Six neighboring countries have received medical treatment at the scene for the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Firefighters from Bracknell, Wokingham Road and Whitley stations over a wood fire used to clear the gas from the fans home and isolated the gas supply to three houses, including Mr. and Mrs. Haines home in Barkham Road.

Ms. Haines Wokingham Netball Club teammates honored him with a one minute silence before Saturday devices.

Instead of organizing a collection for a charity of choice of the family in memory of Mrs. Haines, his parents April and Samuel Gordon asked members of the club volleyball to buy carbon monoxide detectors for their houses.

Tactical Advisor South Central Ambulance little Graham said: "Carbon monoxide poisoning is rare, however, we responded to three cases in the last week.

"Although we are equipped to handle these cases, we urge members of the public that they can be prevented by simple maintenance checks."

The Wokingham Times was contacted by Lynn Griffiths, president and founder of CO-Awareness, a registered charity awareness monoxide "silent killer" carbon, after reading about the death of Mrs Haines on getwokingham.

Ms Griffiths, of Liverpool, said: "Everybody needs to know the dangers of CO [carbon monoxide] and how to protect yourself against this silent killer.

"The older generation, those with heart, lung and pregnant women, unborn babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of CO."

Barkham Road from the corner of Oxford Road to Molly Millar Lane was blocked as a precaution after the flight last Thursday.

Blue Odedra, who runs the store Nisa only the doors of the house, said: "The police told us to close the shop at about half past eight, but we all knew that there had been a gas leak.

"People in the four houses in this row were sent to hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning and could not go back until Friday."

Mrs. Haines, a press officer at the University of Oxford, was a former journalist who wrote for The Sunday Times and The Express, among others.

A member wishing to Wokingham Netball Club, she also wrote game reviews for the Times sports pages Wokingham "under her maiden name, Katie Samuel.

She married her husband Richard, who works at Hewlett Packard in Bracknell, in the Cotswolds in December and has just returned from his honeymoon in mid-January.

His father said: "Katie was the most beautiful girl imaginable.

"Unfortunately, Richard discovered his body after returning from work Thursday night, and despite attempts at resuscitation, she was pronounced dead in hospital.

"My heart goes to him for what he experienced.

"Katie is the perfect girl who was as brilliant as she was beautiful.

"She never gave us a moment of anxiety in his short life. She had a smile that lit up her face perfectly and was unforgettable to all who saw it.

"Katie had been with Richard for five years and was very excited about her wedding. They were the most.
