I need drivers to connect my JVC camcorder on my computer. I have a pin firewire 4 to USB cable.a My computer does not recognize my device. I tried to find a better answer. The only result I found was describing Firewire to Firewire connection. I have a USB Firewire. My computer has no firewire, only USB. My camcorder is only headphone and FireWire. Does anyone have the correct drivers for ita Please help! Thank you.
Firewire to USB adapter / converters do not work. USB and IEEE1394 communication protocols are very different. There are no good drivers. "That's why you can not find a" best answer "anywhere.
You do not tell us what computer. Hopefully it has an available PCI slot (desktop) or PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot (laptop) so you can add a FireWire port on the computer.
It appears that your camcorder is miniDV tape ... the only way you will get high quality, low compression, the DV format, video on your computer is using a FireWire cable (not USB) port for connecting DV camcorders (not USB) port FireWire the computer (not USB).
If there is no way for you to add a FireWire port on your computer, you need a computer with a firewire port to work. That means rent, buy or borrow, it is what it is. If you need to rent or borrow a computer, then this would be a good idea to use an external hard drive to store video files imported. In this way, after the import is done, you can return the rental / borrowed computer, but to take imported video files with you on the external drive.
Firewire USB does not work, you need firewire firewire, so you might have to buy a firewire card and install it in your desktop or your laptop has an empty bay, buy a firewire card for too.
