How to Set a programmable thermostat in hot weather If you want to reduce costs on your electricity bill and save energy, a programmable thermostat is just what you need. Honeywell and other manufacturers produce high-programmable thermostats that can help you manage your home more efficiently. Here are some tips to define a programmable thermostat thermostat as hot weather to run your air conditioner efficiently.
Step 1
Learn to program your thermostat manually by reading the printed instructions provided with your programmable thermostat. Do not worry if you can not find - just search the Internet for the name of the model (eg, Honeywell RTH230B or RiteTemp 6022) to find the instructions online.
Step2
Set the temperature at the time you get out of bed in the morning, the temperature of the standard house desired. ENERGY STAR recommends a temperature of 78 F standard house in hot weather. (See Resources below for a direct link to more tips ENERGY STAR)
Step 3
Increasing the temperature of at least 7 F when you go to work. If there are others in your household, use the time the last person leaves for work / school.
Step 4
Lower the temperature back to the standard temperature at the time of your return for the day (or time of the first person in the household back home). Consider setting this time half an hour or more before your return to cool the house before going home.
Step 5
Raise the temperature a few degrees at bedtime. If you prefer a house cool at night, you can skip this step or use fans to cool the room.
