Thermostat Connections

Posted on October 3, 2010.
Thermostat ConnectionsCan I connect a simple thermostat to a single strand of the oven heat 2a And if so what connections go wherea

I have one black and one white wire coming out of the wall but they are not labeled. I bought a little cheap thermostat with 4 ports R, W, Y and G. The thermostat for cooling and heating. Can I make this worka If this is not what I needa

If you have a thermostat 24 volts and 24 volts is what the black and white are providing, you should be in business if you connect the black wire to the R and the white wire W. Before you connect the thermostat to be sure that the son wall are not 120V. If they are high voltage (120 V), it could be dangerous and you can toast your new thermostat. Good luck.

Yes, it will work. R & W terminal are heat controls. The thermostat operates as a switch, then the thread color is not too important.

Some cool info on the website below.

Yes you can .... using case R and W connections not working which wire goes where ..... make sure that it is the son of the thermostat ..... once your sure they are plugged in and see if the oven works ......
