Tracer Gas

Posted on October 3, 2010.
Tracer GasThe success of shale gas in Europe depends on the resolution of key challenges

Europe faces the same challenges U.S. efforts to exploit shale gas encountered during startup. As there are similarities, there are also many differences, which makes the hunt for shale gas in Europe a different challenge than what was and still is the United States.

These challenges European government (s) and oil and gas industry faces should be addressed and emphasis must be on those at this point.

Exploration and production potential within the shale gas plays that could be present depends on resolving these challenges.

Shale Gas concept

There are many challenges - and all are connected to the learning curve for shale gas potential in particular in North America (U.S. and Canada), but not to the continent as liimited f.inst China began to accelerate their efforts to exploit the potential of shale gas in their country.

It is however important to note - European Shale Gas Potential and its operating strategy can not follow a blueprint of what is or is currently in the U.S. or Canada.

Shale gas or should I state in general non-conventional resources, do not behave consistently - and the only certainty we have - its going to be different from that of the United States and Canada, or for that Rest well in the world, it is with conventional resources and how we operate.

2. Environmental concerns

3. Technology

4. understanding of the geotechnical properties of shale gas and its effect on the potential for exploitation

5. Technicalities

6. Service Industry

7. Economics of these projects

I will address these key issues and what I think Europe should focus on this moment.

Wise policy

The EU decision makers in relation to Europe of 27 countries and Europe comprising 45 countries, including those shared with the Asian continent.

The EU was founded in 1993 and then a young trade union, compared to f.inst United States.

There are several languages spoken in the EU, some realms (9 of them) and others republics.

This tells you immediately that Europe is not a unit - each country has its unique view of a policy and regulatory framework

It is difficult for the EU to have a common energy policy, which is uniformly followed across Europe.

o Environmental regulations and laws and how they interact with legislative bodies in other countries - are there clearly defined in legislation that role and unity of environmental responsibility in a country and how industry should work with them to ensure the development of unconventional theatera

o legislative design, the previous step was a sub-theme of this whole subject - such as the environment, taxation, laws on energy and industrial property laws f.inst interact, and clear guidelines must be developed in order for a player to minimize the risk of an unconventional project.

o Regulatory agencies - a single window for players to work - while working in Poland to emulate the American model

O infrastructure - houses, roads, industrial estates, etc. and also in view of gas pipeline infrastructure

o Regulations on investment spending and taxation ope.
